Alarms come first on this night. Then you walk the control room and log what feels wrong.
You are the junior OT analyst on your first night alone at a water treatment plant.
It is roughly 2 AM. The facility had a rough week, and the room is yours to walk.
Walk the control room starting at the door. Log what feels wrong as you go.
Each find adds a link to tonight’s attack story.
The desk has an HMI (Human-Machine Interface): the operator screen.
Wendy's voice is optional. Mute anytime and still finish from the
Now chip and on-screen text.

Finding
HMI = Human-Machine Interface: this monitor is the operator screen.
Shift complete
Mission 1: The Night Shift
Nice walk, Analyst.
You logged the five required control-room findings for this free demo.
Tonight's links: propped door, expired badge, sticky password, unattended
wtr_ops session, undocumented Cat6.
Fix any one link and the chain fails. Process view, alarms, modem, coffee, and the pizza sticky are extra looks.
How tonight actually happened
You walked the room as an analyst. Here is the same night in janitor order.
Alarm.
Something on the board wants a flood-gate trip. The chair is empty. Somebody has to act.
Sticky.
He remembers the sticky on the bezel. Operator password in marker. Janitor keys, operator login.
HMI.
He uses the Human-Machine Interface (the operator screen). Live wtr_ops session. Helpful hands on setpoints.
Network.
Once he is on that console, he is on the control path. The undocumented Cat6 was already waiting under the desk.
He meant to help. That is still how the path opens. Physical access, written password, empty chair, quiet drop.
What you practiced
Module 1 terminal learning objectives (Night Shift). No certification claims.
These are practice goals for this free walk.
TLO 1.1. Identify and locate the HMI (Human-Machine Interface / operator screen).
TLO 1.2. Distinguish shift-relevant findings from noise (tonight’s story vs extra looks).
TLO 1.3. Complete the ordered checks muted, using the Now chip and checklist, not spoken prompts alone.

What is next
Congratulations. You have toured the control room and logged the things you found.
Some were funny, some were serious, all deserve investigation.
